Finnish saxophone player Pekka Pylkkanen and Brazilian drummer Carlos Ezequiel joined forces and put together a new quartet, to present original compositions in a unique blend of contemporary jazz references.
From Helsinki, Finland, Pekka Pylkkanen is one of Scandinavia's most active jazz musicians. Leading his group Tube Factory or playing with big bands such as the UMO Jazz Orchestra, has toured all over the world since the 1990's, performing in China, Japan, Korea, Australia, USA, Norway, Germany, Sweden, Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, and Brazil. Pekka has been featured in over 300 concerts in the last few years, and released 3 CDs as a leader: "Pekka's Tube Factory" (1999), "Opaque" (2001), and "Listen!" (2008).
Carlos Ezequiel, Brazilian jazz drummer and producer, has performed in the U.S.A., Europe, Argentina, Peru, and all over Brazil. His first Cd, "Images", recorded in Boston in 2000, was nominated for the Latin Grammy 2002 as "Best Latin Jazz Album". With his group Sinequanon, has released 3 more albums: "Sinequanon" (2004), "Telescópio" (2006) and "Horizonte Artificial" (2008). As a sideman he has performed with American artists Kurt Rosenwinkel, Howard Levy and David Liebman, with Danish musicians Thomas Walbum and Jens Viggo Fjord, and with numerous Brazilian artists such as legendary bass player Sizão Machado and guitar player Nelson Faria.
